Why This Project
"Without someone to help, they stay in the same place forever."
There are tens of millions of 17-year-olds like this around the world. They only went to school until age 10. They support their families by serving and washing dishes at restaurants. Their only possession is a budget Android phone.
Udemy requires English and a credit card. YouTube — they don't know what to search. Khan Academy isn't in their language. Tutoring costs money and time they don't have.
There are approximately 739 million illiterate adults worldwide. Many of them own smartphones. They watch videos, tap icons, and send voice messages — even without reading. They just can't read.
Existing education systems are closed to these people. School Earth opens just the first door.
